DISPOSITION AND SETTLEMENT. THE EARL OF SEAFIELD

(died 31 March 1884) I The Right Honourable Sir Ian Charles Grant Ogilvie of Grant, Baronet Earl of Seafield Baron Strathspey of Strathspey &ca. &ca. &ca. being resolved to settle my means and estate in the event of my death. Do hereby give grant assign and dispose to & in favour of my Mother Caroline Countess of Seafield and her heirs and assignees whomsoever heritably and irrededeemably [sic] All and Whole the Lands & Barony of Freuchie & the whole other Lands & Heritages forming the Grant Estates recently disentailed being the whole Lands and others particularly described in the Instrument of Disen- tail executed by me on the Eighteenth day of August recorded in the Register of Entails on the Eighteenth day of November & in the Divisions of the General Register of Entails on the Eighteenth day of November & in the Divesions of the General Register of Sasines applicable to the Counties of Inverness & of Elgin & Forres for publication & as in the Books of Council & Session for preservation on the second day of December all in the Year One thousand eight hundred & eighty one; As also All & Sundry the whole other Lands Baronies teinds mills fishings & other heritages belonging to me & of which I now have or hereafter may have the power of disposal situated in the Counties of Inver- ness Elgin & Forres & Banff or wheresoever else the same may be situated goods & gear debts & sums [sums] of money and in general the whole means & estate heritable & moveable real & personal whersoever situated now belong- ing & addebted or which shall belong & be addebted to me & of which I shall have the power of disposal at the time of my death: with the whole titles writs & evidents vouchers & instructions of my said means & effects hereitable & moveable hereby conveyed; And I oblige myself & my heirs & successors to grant all Deeds & Writings necessary for implementing and fulfilling the Conveyance above written And I hereby nominate & appoint my said Mother to be my sole Executrix And I reserve full power to revoke or alter these [105] presents in whole or in part And I dispence with delivery thereof And I reserve my liferent right; And I consent to registration for preservation In WITNESS WHEREOF these presents written on this & the preceding page [. . .] by Alexander Horne Clerk to Mackenzie Innes & Logan Writers to the Signet Edinburgh are subscribed by me at Cullen House Banffshire on the twentieth day of February One thousand eight hundred & eighty two before these Witnesses William Gillespie Bryson, my Factor at Cullen and John Thomson Clerk in the Cullen Estate Office, Cullen.
